Katseye sold out the O2 twice without a single UK top 10 hit

Katseye sold out two nights at the O2 last week on the strength of a British chart record that contains no top 10 singles at all.

The group has placed six songs on the Official Singles Chart for a combined 40 weeks, the Official Charts Company's own artist data shows, and spent none of those weeks inside the top 10. Their highest-placed single, Animal, reached 12 in August.

Their third EP, Wild, went to No. 2 on the Official Albums Chart after its release on 27 August, the highest UK placing of their career. One of its three chart weeks has been inside the top 10.

Six charting songs, forty weeks on the Official Singles Chart, and not one week inside the top 10.

Those two records describe different audiences buying different things. The album is a release-week purchase, concentrated and then gone. The singles are a slow burn that never catches.

Gabriela spent 18 weeks on the singles chart and peaked at 38. Pinky Up managed 12 weeks and peaked at 14. Gnarly ran 11 weeks and got no higher than 52.

That is the shape of songs carried by playlists and passive listening over months rather than driven into the chart by a fanbase in a single week. It is unglamorous, it is durable, and it does not produce hits.

The arena business is not built on either. Katseye announced the Wildworld tour in May as a 27-date run. After the pre-sale sold out, four shows were added in London, Elmont, Los Angeles and Mexico City, taking it to 31, and those sold out as well.

The tour opened at Dublin's 3Arena on 1 September before the O2 dates on 3 and 4 September and Manchester's Co-op Live on 6 September. It reaches Paris tonight, wraps the European leg in Copenhagen on 17 September and moves to North America in October, closing in Mexico City on 28 November.

The group was formed through HYBE and Geffen Records' Dream Academy programme and documented in the Netflix series Pop Star Academy. It was named TikTok's Global Artist of the Year in 2025 and picked up Grammy nominations for Best New Artist and, for Gabriela, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance.

There is a reading in which none of this is remarkable. Five top 40 singles in a calendar year and a No. 2 album is a good year by any measure, and the UK top 10 is an unusually hard room to enter, clogged with catalogue tracks that have been sitting there for years.

The point is not that the chart record is weak. It is that the chart record and the ticket sales are not connected, and a promoter adding a second O2 night is not responding to radio.

The second London show was not in the original routing. It was added because the first one sold out before it went on general sale, and then it sold out too.
